According to Section 20(2) of the Tom Mboya University Charter, the University Management Board comprises: a) The Vice-Chancellor – Chairperson; b) The Deputy Vice-Chancellors; c) The Principals of Colleges; d) The Registrars; e) The Corporation Secretary; f) The Chief Legal Officer; and g) The Director of Finance.
Furthermore, as per Section 20(4) of the Tom Mboya University Charter, the Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Administration) is designated as the Secretary to the Management Board.
FUNCTIONS OF THE BOARD
Section 35 (1) (c) of the Universities Act, 2012 specifies the functions of the Management Board, which include: a) Implementing the university’s policies. b) Supporting the Vice-Chancellor in the daily management of the university. c) Carrying out any other duties outlined in the university’s Charter.
COMMITTEES OF THE BOARD
In accordance with the Code of Governance for State Corporations (Mwongozo, 2015), the Tom Mboya University Council has established four standing committees with clearly defined terms of reference in their respective Committee Charters. Appointment to a committee considers member skills and experience, and committees act with delegated authority from the Council. These committees include: i). Audit and Risk Management Committee ii). Academic and Research Committee iii). Finance, Planning, And Investment Committee iv). Executive and Human Resource Committee
