Tom Mboya University Launches the First Integrated Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Audit (IEIA/EA) Training Short Course -18th May 2026 to 26th June 2026.

Integrated Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Audit (IEIA/EA) Training Short Course is regulated by the National Environmental Management Authority(NEMA) of Kenya. Tom Mboya University is one of the Training Institutions in Kenya accredited to train Integrated Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Audit (IEIA/EA) Training Short Course.
According to the Coordinator of the programme, Dr Isaack Ayuyo, the
learning outcomes of the training include;
1. Understanding Fundamentals of EIA & EA concepts and processes and their application in decision-making for Sustainable Development
2. Demonstrating the application of EIA/EA tools to real world case study through hands-on exercise or Simulations
3. Comparing current EIA/EA practices in two contrasting socio-economic contexts (eg developed vs developing nations)
4. Conducting Research to identify and explain recently updated policies or legal requirements related to EIA/EA outlining their implications for EIA/EA practitioners
5. Developing and implementing stakeholder engagement plan considering diverse stakeholder groups and appropriate communication strategies
6. Identifying and analyzing emerging issues in EIA/EA, such as climate change impacts, biodiversity conservation, and technological advancements, to equip trainees with forward-thinking strategies and solutions
The training attracted 15 participants from County Governments, Universities, Public and Private Sectors in Kenya and, one International Participant from the United Republic of Tanzania.
The Vice Chancellor of Tom Mboya University, Prof. Charles Ochola Omondi officially opened the training that will take a duration of six (6) weeks from ;18th May 2026 to 26th June 2026.In his opening remarks, the VC thanked the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) for accrediting Tom Mboya University to be one of the Training centres in Kenya offering EIA Training.He welcomed all participants and thanked them for choosing Tom Mboya University as their training destination.He noted that being the pioneer students of the training, they will graduate as inaugural students and form part of the Alumnii of Tom Mboya University.
