On July 5th, 2025, Tom Mboya University proudly hosted the Tom Mboya Memorial Lecture, a distinguished event honoring the legacy of one of Kenya’s most visionary leaders. The gathering brought together dignitaries, scholars, students, and members of the public to reflect on the enduring values of leadership, integrity, and public service championed by the late Tom Mboya.
The Keynote Speaker was Prof. David Sperling from Strathmore University, whose profound insights into transformative governance and youth-driven change captivated the audience. His lecture served not only as a tribute to Tom Mboya’s legacy but also as a powerful call to action for the next generation of leaders to rise with purpose and vision.
The event was graced by Her Excellency Gladys Wanga, Governor of Homa Bay County, who served as the Chief Guest. In her address, she emphasized the importance of education in regional development and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting academic institutions like Tom Mboya University. Also present was Hon. Milly Odhiambo, Member of Parliament for Suba North, who praised the university for its role in fostering dialogue around leadership and national progress.
