a) Land

The University College owns a total of 25.33 Ha piece of land. The details as indicated below.

NOTE: Additional land estimated at 200 acres is required for expansion to achieve growth in infrastructural activities as enshrined in the Strategic Plan 2018 – 2023.

b) Buildings

Since establishment in April 2016, the University College through the support of the Government has undertaken a number
of development projects. These include the completion of office and Tuition Block, alteration of a library, a dining hall and a
generator house; the construction of an access road and improvement of the sporting field.

Currently, TMUC is undertaking phased out construction of an Administration and Lecture Theatre Halls and a gate.

The Administration and Lecture Theatre Halls will offer a 10,000 sitting capacity (Phase I – 2,000 and Phase II – 8,000) to
accommodate the increase in student numbers.

The University College is served by Tarmac road from Homa Bay town center.

Within the College there are internal access murram roads that connect the main offices, Tuition Block and hostels to the sports field, and farm.

NOTE:

The University College has made a request to the Kenya Rural Roads Authority to assist the in construction of 3km of collector roads and streets within the institution to paved standards in order to improve transportation within TMUC and links with main urban corridor.

• Since establishment in 2016, the University College has expanded through increased number of students without a
  commensurate increase in human resources due to the inadequate funding from the government.
• This has led to a big challenge in recruitment of staff to enhance the quality of teaching and research and widen access
  to higher education and therefore staff recruitment has been prioritized based on needs taking into consideration the available resources.
• The current total number of staff is 89 consisting of 30 teaching staff and 59 Administrative staff.
  
  The staff in-post against the projections as per the Strategic Plan 2018 – 2023 are as indicated below.

a) Library Services

Tom Mboya University College has a library of 350 square meters to accommodate 60 students at any one given time. The library has open shelve sections, reserve section, reference and reading areas. Users access both print materials and electronic resources subscribed to through the Kenya Library and Information Services Consortium (KLISC).

b) Book Volumes and titles by discipline

The TMUC Library has a total of 35,000 book volumes. The available book titles have been categorized by Title, Author and Publisher.

c) Journals Subscription

The library has subscribed to e-resources from the Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium (KLISC).
Students are also encouraged to access open journal sites through the internet.

d) ICT infrastructure

The Library is connected to the University College internet network. The internet services are provided to the College by both National Optic Fibre Backbone (NOFBI) of Capacity 100mbps (primary) and Safaricom with a capacity 155mbps as a redundant line.
The internet within the library and its environs is facilitated by both LAN(Local Area Network) and wireless access devices.
