About

Dr. Odondo Juma Alphonce is a Senior Lecturer in Economics and the Director of Research, Innovation, and Technology Transfer at Tom Mboya University, Kenya. He holds a PhD in Economics from Maseno University and is an applied economist with strong expertise in econometrics, development economics, and agricultural economics. His research portfolio is primarily anchored on poverty reduction strategies, with a particular emphasis on rural poverty, smallholder livelihood systems, and agricultural markets in the sub-Saharan African region. Dr. Odondo has extensive experience in the design, implementation, coordination, and management of competitively funded research projects supported by the National Research Fund (NRF), USAID, and other international and national development partners. He has supervised, internally examined, and served as an external examiner for postgraduate theses and undergraduate programmes in Economics and related disciplines in four public universities in Kenya, contributing significantly to quality assurance, curriculum standards, and academic benchmarking. He has examined numerous masters’ and doctoral theses across several Kenyan public universities, demonstrating deep familiarity with national and international examination standards. He is a registered peer review resource person for the Commission for University Education (CUE) in Kenya and a reviewer for the Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI) Journal. Additionally, he has served as a reviewer for the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) and as a Board Member and Editorial Advisor for international peer-reviewed journals. He has published widely in refereed journals, reflecting his strong commitment to scholarly excellence, research integrity, and policy-relevant knowledge generation.
