In his speech, the President challenged universities to change their approach in the delivery of higher education in the country to cope with the market demands, and also to effectively respond to the dynamic global economy. He also emphasized on the importance of universities and institutions of higher learning tailoring their activities in a manner that prevents corruption in the issuance of degree certificates. He pointed out that corruption does not only erode the reputation of the Kenyan education system but it also undermines the confidence of young graduates in the job market.
