ABOUT THE VICE CHANCELLOR
Academic and Professional Journey
Prof. Charles O. Ochola is an accomplished scholar and Professional Social Demographer with extensive experience in higher education leadership. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography and Master of Arts in Population Studies from the University of Nairobi, and a PhD in Demography from the prestigious University of Liverpool.
Leadership at Tom Mboya University
Prof. Ochola has been instrumental in the transformation of Tom Mboya University from its college status to a fully-fledged university. His leadership roles include:
- Vice Chancellor and Secretary to the Council of Tom Mboya University (Current)
- Acting Vice-Chancellor during the transition to university status (2022-2023)
- Founding Principal of Tom Mboya University College (2016-2022)
Previous Experience
Before joining Tom Mboya University, Prof. Ochola served in various leadership positions at Maseno University including Director of Students Welfare Services for nine years, Coordinator of Evening/Parallel Programmes, and Chairman of the Department of Sociology. He also contributed to national development through his work with the National Council for Population and Development.
