Our Services
Accommodation Services
Accommodation services is one of the major services provided by the hostel section under Student Welfare Services. It is not possible to accommodate all students who get admitted to the University and admission to TMU is not determined by bed capacity.
Room allocation process is automated through an online system called Hostel Management System. The system includes online room application and allocation which makes the process transparent, accountable, traceable, equitable and fair. Students must apply for accommodation online and within the stipulated timelines. In the hostels department, there is the housekeeper who is responsible for proper management of accommodation services in all the hostels. The housekeeper is assisted by hostel attendants who are responsible for Units in both the main campus and Prudence Hostels in Tom Mboya University.
Students are expected to adhere to tenancy agreements to ensure safety and security.
Students are prohibited from illegally pirating or accommodating unauthorized persons—even if they are students of the University who are not accommodated. The offence attracts severe penalties and disciplinary actions against perpetrators.
Hostel staff in each unit attend to students' needs at the halls level by enforcing rules and regulations in the hostels of residence. Recreational facilities include DSTV and internet where possible. Prayer rooms are also availed to students, where possible, upon request.
Catering Services
Catering services at Tom Mboya University are provided under the Student Welfare Services to ensure students and staff have access to nutritious, affordable, and hygienically prepared meals. The Catering Department operates several dining facilities across the university campuses, offering a variety of meals that cater to different dietary needs and preferences.
The department ensures that all meals are prepared in clean and well-maintained kitchens by qualified catering staff who follow established food safety and hygiene protocols. Daily menus are planned in consideration of nutritional value and affordability to meet the needs of the student population.
In line with technological advancement, the catering services have adopted a cashless payment system to enhance convenience and reduce queues. Students and staff use their institutional cards or mobile money services to pay for meals.
The university also accommodates special dietary requests where possible, including vegetarian and religious dietary preferences, provided these are communicated in advance. Additionally, special arrangements are made during examinations and other university events to ensure uninterrupted service.
The Catering Department continuously evaluates service delivery through feedback from students and staff, and regularly updates meal plans to improve satisfaction and efficiency. The team remains committed to creating a welcoming and supportive dining environment that contributes to the overall student experience at TMU.
