CMG ARGWINGS KODHEK FACULTY WELCOMES PROF. NLERUM SUNDAY OKOGBULE TO TOM MBOYA UNIVERSITY

Professor Okogbule is a professor of International Law and the former Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He comes to TMU as a Visiting Professor of Law on Sabbatical. Professor Okogbule is a seasoned academic with several years of teaching experience in the University system. He started his journey in academics as a Lecturer 11 in the then Rivers State University of Science and Technology and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in October, 2012. He has also held numerous administrative positions within and outside the University, such as Head of Department in the Faculty of Law, Dean of Law for a period of six years, Dean, Postgraduate School, among others.
Prof Okogbule possesses the following academic qualifications: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), and Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Ife Ile-Ife, Nigeria; Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. He was called to the Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in August, 1985.
He is the author of several books, as well as articles in refereed national and international journals. His award-winning article entitled 'Globalization, Economic Sovereignty and African Development: From Principles to Realities' published in the Journal of Third World Studies is widely cited as a reference point on the subject.
His academic career was capped with his appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University in March, 2020, a position he held with distinction and visible positive transformation. He completed the five-year tenure in March, 2025.
Prof Okogbule is married with children.
